Google and SEO updates, explained for Dubai businesses

We track confirmed Google algorithm and search updates against Google's own Search Status Dashboard and Search Central documentation, then explain what it actually means for a Dubai or UAE website, not just that it happened.

How we decide what goes here

Before anything is published on this page, we check it against Google's own Search Status Dashboard and Search Central documentation, not a screenshot, a headline, or a claim from another site. If we cannot confirm it directly from Google, we do not write about it as fact.

Each update we cover explains what actually changed, how to check whether your own site was affected using your Search Console data, and what to do about it. We do not tell you to panic and rebuild your site every time Google makes an announcement, most updates change very little for most sites.

For the deeper background on how search engines and rankings work day to day, not just when something changes, see our guides to how search engines actually work and increasing organic traffic in Dubai.

Frequently asked questions

How often does Google update its search algorithm?+

Google makes small adjustments constantly, but it only names and confirms the significant ones, core updates, spam updates and specific feature changes, on its own Search Status Dashboard and Search Central blog. That is the source we check before writing anything here.

Do all Google updates affect every website?+

No. Most confirmed updates target specific issues, like spam patterns or how certain content is ranked, and many sites see no change at all. The practical question is not whether an update happened, but whether your own Search Console data shows a change around the date it rolled out.

How do I know if a Google update actually hit my site?+

Compare your clicks, impressions and rankings in Search Console's Performance report against the update's confirmed rollout dates. A change that lines up closely is worth investigating. Unrelated drops are more often technical issues, lost backlinks or normal competition.

Should I make changes every time Google announces an update?+

Not by default. Reacting to every announcement with site-wide changes usually causes more harm than good. Check your own data first, and only act on what your data actually shows.
